And now it is time for the factual part of this post:

Our wondrous word of the day:

Jabberwocky: Meaningless nonsensical speech; jibber-jabber.

So balderdash can be created using jabberwocky!
Did you know that there is actually a poem called the Jabberwocky? We had to study it at school.

A duck's quack never echoes anywhere. Ever. Never. Never ever. And no one knows why.

That is a terrifying thought... Maybe that is why some people develop anatidaephobia!

  1. We had to memorize the Jabberwocky (by Lewis Carroll) for school:

Twas' brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe
    All mimsy were the borogoves
    And the home raths outgrabe

    Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that snatch
Beware the jub-jub bird and shun
    The frumious bandersnatch!

He took his vorpal sword in hand
Long time the manxome foe he sought!
So rested he by the tum-tum tree
    And stood awhile in thought

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock with eyes of flame
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood
    And burbled as it came.

One, two, one, two, and through and through!
    The vorpal blade went snicker-snack
He left it dead and with its head
    He came galumphing back.

And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms my beamish boy!
    Oh frabjous day, callooh, callay!
    He chortled in his joy.

Twas' brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe.
    All mimsy were the borogoves
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

It's a strange poem. Can't believe I still remember it.

    1. Oh, oh! Is the Jabberwocky related to the original Alice in Wonderland in a way? Because I swear, that poem seems familiar to me. And I was learning about Alice in Wonderland when I learned the poem. (I think. :p)
