The Alphas
Alphas are Jamaa's protectors. They each take on a particular role that is important for the safety of the animals, particularly protecting the from Phantoms. We have made up a profile for each alpha with descriptions and graphics, so check them out by clicking a link!
Greely - Wolf Alpha
Sir Gilbert - Tiger Alpha
Liza - Panda Alpha
Graham - Monkey Alpha
Cosmo - Koala Alpha
Peck - Rabbit Alpha
There are also some other animals who are thought to be Alphas, but only their names have been found.

"Mira, the Sky Mother, was heartbroken after she lost her companion spirit, Zios, the Sky Father. Her feelings of sadness and anger fell to the earth of Jamaa. Mira's tears mixed with the elements of Jamaa and formed the dark mysterious phantoms that haunt this land today. Because of the sadness and anger that they were created from, the phantoms' only goal is to bring chaos and destruction to Jamaa."

Mira was beautiful and kind and they were very happy together. She loved Zios deeply and often told him how talented he was, encouraging him to create. Together, Zios and Mira created their masterpiece: a lush land filled with oceans, mountains, meadows, and all kinds of plants and animals. They named this special world Jamaa, and for hundreds of years, the world and its animals were at peace.
But today, all is not well in Jamaa. A mysterious dark force has crept into the land, stealing away animals and ruining the beauty of Jamaa. Only you can help save the animals and restore the world to its glory. Please help, for you are Jamaa's only hope. "
That is all we know of Jamaa's King and Queen. They are mentioned time to time but have never been a big theme around Animal Jam. We have no idea why! Recently it was discovered that Zios was inspired by Incan Mythology. Click here to learn more about that.
The Phantoms

These mysterious creatures roam about Jamaa, attacking animals and constantly in hope of destroying Jamaa. The Alphas Greely and Sir Gilbert specialize in fighting Phantoms, and it is because of them that animals can still roam the streets of Jamaa in safety!
But they cannot hold of the Phantoms all by themselves! You can help the Alphas defeat the Phantoms by joining in on one of their Adventures!
Could I make a suggestion? Can you make an "Ask" page so Jammers with some problems concerning AJ could, you know, ask for advice? If there was one, it would be pawsome!

ReplyDeleteYes, in a way. In the Mystery Emporium (in Lost Temple of Zios) there are statues of the newer animals sold with mysterious name. In the older animals, the name is the name of the Alpha. So a lot of people think they are alphas. However, we know absolutely nothing about them!

DeleteFrom the Lore I think it'd be safe to assume that they aren't, considering Peck was the "newest alpha". Although I can't completely rule them out. It's possible that they're still a factor in the "phantom war," but have lower ranks. As jammers, in war terms, we'd be privates ((actually, scratch that, we'd be like sub-privates considering we nEVER have to think for ourselves in the adventures >8U)), and the Alphas would be like Generals, and the other statue dudes would be somewhere in between c:

DeleteI love reading about the history of Jamaa. The story of Mira and Zios is so interesting, and it's very surprising that the phantoms were actually created by Mira (on accident of course).

ReplyDeleteAlthough that's asking a bit much, I can't imagine a little AI technology could be too hard? AND THEIR CALLED ADVENTURES, NOT MISSIONS! There should be a lot more adventure, and wonder, and choice. We should choose which patch to take, and WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO LOOSE!! The next infantry of jammers can make things right, but it's not fun if there's no chance of losing :P

ReplyDeleteIt's safe to assume Greely wasn't all that good at any sort of communication, and making him helpful, and friendly would be breaking his character. He's definitely still developing as a character, and I can see him relying more on the other alphas & jammers to fight this war with him, rather than being completely indifferent like before Greely's Inferno c:

ReplyDeleteyou know how the alphas used to be called the Shamans? Well I think that an "Alpha" is just a higher rank for shamans, so the animals in the chamber of knowledge and really Shamans, not Alpha Shamans.

It would be really cool if the Alphas/Shamans were made into actual AJ players. Like, Liza would be Liza1234. And would be a panda looking like her. And Greely would be Greelyistough1. And Greely would be in armor. You should be able to do adventures with Alphas too. They might do all the work, hahaha. They would also be able to talk, like Liza would mainly say:

DeleteThe stories are so cool! I specially loved the Mira and Zios one. This question often came in my mind that was Zios here first or Mira? Who's actually the ruler of Jamaa. I first thought Mira, but it turns out as Zios. Mira is actually known as the mother of Jamaa, and Zios is father or Jamaa or something?

AJ only gives some of the alphas importance and there's nobody to respect the others. .o.
From them 6 (which is at the top) Liza gets the most importance. I don't like Liza anyway. She's creepy.
Peck is cute and nice. I like Cosmo cause he's a naturalist and I love the nature. :)
Not many people like Cosmo... My favorite basic Alphas are Greely and Cosmo, but my most favorite alpha, for some weird reason is Felicity :3

ReplyDeleteThe legends of the king and queen of Jamaa help me understand a lot about the history of Jamma! I am so glad that Greely and Sir Girbert are keeping the phantoms away so the animals can play in the streets of Jamaa. I also like to thank the other 4 alphas for helping the animals that live in Jamaa:)
